Saturday, December 4, 2010 @ 1:00 Origami Workshop with Robert Taylor

Each participant will receive a bag with materials to create three origami ornaments. You will have instruction and time to make at least one during the workshop. Age 10 and up. Space is limited, reservations required. Sign up at the Circulation Desk.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010 @ 7:00 pm A Quiet and Peaceable Life: The Amish by Allegany County Historian Craig Braack.

Many Amish families have moved into the local area recently.  Mr. Braack will cover the Amish value system and lifestyles both here and in Pennsylvania. A slideshow will accompany the presentation.

Tuesday, December 14, 2010 @ 6:30 pm Film Showing— Millennium: The StoryA film by Laurence Lowenthal

The Millennium trilogy by Swedish author Stieg Larsson is THE literary phenomenon of the last decade, with 15 million books sold worldwide, 25 translations in over 40 countries, and a movie that is blasting box-office records in Scandinavia and several European countries. Chorduroy, a registered barbershop quartet will perform at the Olean Public Library in the Art Gallery. Members include (l to r) Ted Norton, Pat Close, Marshall Allen, and Peter Kurzdorfer.


Tuesday, December 21 @ —12:30-1:30 pm– Brown Bag Book Club— The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham

Read the book, bring your lunch, enjoy coffee and cookies provided by the Friends of the Olean Public Library, Inc. as you discuss the book with the book club members.





All Olean Public Library events are free and open to the public.
