A dozen St. Bonaventure University student writers will present their work in a public reading at the Olean Public Library Monday, November 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM.
The creative writers—mostly journalism and mass communication majors—are members of a student writing group at St. Bonaventure University called The Arm. They will read an eclectic collection of original poems, short stories, and essays.
“We have a bunch of wonderful student writers at St. Bonaventure, and The Arm gives them the chance to practice their creative writing skills in a context beyond the classroom,” says Chris Mackowski, associate professor of journalism and mass communication at St. Bonaventure and the moderator of the group. “One of the goals the group set for itself this semester was a public reading. It was a way for some of the students to push themselves a bit beyond their comfort levels.”
The reading will be held in the library art gallery and is free and open to the public.
