On Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:00 am authors Cheri Mancuso and John Scarano will give a book talk and signing at the Olean Public Library on Coldspring: the Trial which is the second book in their literary non-fiction book trilogy.
This amazing story of love, murder, mystery and a woman whom was ahead of her time is all relative to the Southern tier of New York and is still talked about 65 years later in areas such as Olean, Jamestown, Salamanca, Randolph and Coldspring.
Coldspring: the Trial opens where Coldspring: Vol. One left off. Bernice Kenyon Farnsworth and her husband ex-convict Harry Farnsworth lay dead in their farmhouse in Coldspring, NY as their murderer raced towards New York City in Bernice’s Chevy Sports coupe. The search for Freddy became the largest manhunt in NY history at that time. The court proceeding that took place in 1935 was considered the trial of the century. His execution leaves one questioning capital punishment entirely. Local historians, including the Sing Sing prison where he was executed have been eager to help the authors by providing actual documents, trial records, Grand Jury testimony and actual photographs for Coldspring: the Trial.
Signed copies of Coldspring:the Trial and Coldspring: Vol. One will be available after the program for $17.95 each.
