The Olean Public Library is pleased to present the Enchanted Mountain Chorus on Thursday August 16th at 7pm as part of the “End of Summer Reading” party.
The Olean Enchanted Mountain Chorus is the area’s local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, which includes chapters nationally as well as around the world. They meet year around every Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at Trinity Methodist Church in Olean, under the direction of Louis Petroni. The Olean Barbershop Chapter was formed in 1947. Back then the chorus was known as the “Plaster Busters” although today the chorus goes by the more modest name of the “Enchanted Mountain Chorus”.
The Olean Chapter supports local food banks as part of their service project, and most recently is working with the Franklinville Food Pantry based in the First Baptist Church in Franklinville. A concert to support the food pantry will be held at the church on 27 South Main St. in Franklinville at 7 PM on Saturday, August 18th.
Another part of the mission of the Olean Barbershop Chapter, is to give back to the community by singing at local churches during the summer, at nursing homes all year round, but especially at holiday times, and also at community events. Most recently the Enchanted Mountain chorus sang at Oak Hill Park to kick off the arts and entertainment for the noon hour lunch break going on all summer every Tuesday and Thursday.
